More often than not, the next time you walk into a jewelry store you will be greeted by a trained sales professional eager to make their pitch on the importance of CUT, “the most important of all C’s”, or so they say. Yes, Cut is very important when selecting your diamond because it plays an important role in the amount of brilliance you diamond will exude. However, it would be an exageration to state that it is THE most important. It’s really quite logical if you think about it. A diamonds cut no matter how perfect cannot make an inclusion disappear, or a yellow diamond look whiter. A perfectly cut diamond will not make your diamond look larger either. A well cut diamond can give your already clean white diamond a more brilliant display, so much so that it draws your attention better than others; but it will not make you perceive something that is not already present. There is a very simple reason why gemologists still categorize diamonds based on the 4 c’s. It is a combination of these 4 important characteristics that identify a diamond accurately.

What is THE PROMISE? A life long commitment to your other half. A promise to grow with each other and share in the triumphs as well as struggles; an equal sharing in responsibilities and dedication to common goals. This commitment is often confused with a promise to love someone forever, but we must not forget that being completely IN LOVE with someone doesnt guarantee a successful and happy marriage. A matrimony is a sacred partnership between two adults that become one. But is it truly one brain, one heart, one body? No of course not; the premise that together they become greater than the sum of their parts is understood. The couple works together because together they have greater resources: emotionally, economically, socially, and cognitively. They have each other to look to for guidance and support, motivation and encouragement, laughter or a tear. The couple becomes a perpetual entity, continuously growing and maturing. Each half of the entity struggling to aport more to the partnership. It is in this respect that love plays the strongest role: in the selfless giving of one’s self, in the Faith and belief that each is living for something greater than themselves. It is not the idolatry of the other but the knowledge that each one makes the other one better and more complete. It is Love that allows one to BE loved and accept the partners affection, attention and resolve. Love will always endure but an improperly nurtured relationship (mainly due to lack of communication) may cease to exist. Love freely and love completely but remember your vows, remember your PROMISE.
